Welcome

Welcome to the Canadian Network for Research on Security, Extremism and Society (CANSES). Funded by the Community Resiliency Fund (CRF) administered by the Canada Centre for Community Engagement and the Prevention of Violence under Public Safety Canada, the overarching goal of CANSES is to develop a national network that fosters communication, collaboration, and knowledge sharing between researchers and practitioners, law enforcement and national security, and government policy- and decision-makers.

This goal includes providing assistance to, and engagement opportunities for, early career researchers. CANSES also serves to connect Canada with international partners working in security, extremism, and society spaces. CANSES is dedicated to creating, supporting, and communicating applied, policy-relevant, and operationally relevant research.

Sign Up with CANSES

Are you interested in participating in CANSES? Do you want to be made aware of funding opportunities offered by CANSES? Do you want to be able to access CANSES publications? Do you want to join us for our Annual Workshop? If the answer to one or more of these questions is yes, please sign up with CANSES. It’s easy, and it’s free!

Working Groups

One means of connecting with network members is through our Working Groups. These groups are intended to bring together researchers and individuals with interests in particular areas. Please visit our Working Group page to see which groups have already been created, and reach out to us if you have an idea for a Working Group that you would like to see created.

Check back for updates to CANSES Working Groups!

Annual Workshop

CANSES also hold an annual Workshop open to all members. The Workshop is a great opportunity to connect with other members of the network and to learn what kinds of extremism research is being conducted across Canada. Fair warning though, our Workshops are interactive! In addition to presentations, you can expect to participate in roundtables, to provide comments and feedback and engage in discussions.

More information on our next Workshop (which will be held in the early Fall) is coming soon!

Funding Opportunities

CANSES will be opening a rolling Call for Proposals for small, timely research proposals.
